Central Florida Council, BSA Launches Scouting for Change Service Project

ORLANDO, FLA., December 1, 2009: The Central Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America is joining the national organization in celebrating 100 years of Scouting with the Scouting for Change coin drive service project.

Running from December 1 through February 5, 2010, the drive is a local service project that the Central Florida Council's leadership conceptualized to raise funds to help build schools in Nairobi, Kenya. The location is considered the birthplace of Scouting, where founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell envisioned the ideas and fundamentals of the Scouting program.

Technetium developed an integrated campaign to create awareness and motivate participation in the drive. Work includes design of the drive’s Web site – www.scoutingforchange.com – billboards and campaign materials, as well as the coin collection boxes that Scouts, their parents and Scout leaders are using for fundraising – and that have been placed throughout Central Florida’s Regions Bank branches.

Technetium Advertising & Web Design is proud to be involved with this drive in conjunction with its other community partners: Bright House Networks, Clear Channel Outdoor, Full Sail University and Regions Bank. Organizational partners are Church World Service, which will build the new school; and World Hope, which will build a ninth grade wing at its Hope Academy in Kenya.

We also thank our strategic partner, DeRoo Printing Services, Casselberry, for their generous help with this very worthy cause.
